THE HUMAN BODY PROJECT - PROYECTO EL CUERPO HUMANO

 

Along the first term, in 4 years group, they have worked the unit about human body. It has been a very interesting topic because children have played an important role in their own learning: they became teachers for the rest of their classmates.

This experience was possible with the help of families preparing displays for oral presentations of each project.

It was amazing how they explain the different body systems using all kind of materials and posters.

CHRISTMAS TIME IN "LA CANDELARIA"

At Christmas, the school decided to decorate the halls, corridors and different walls with Christmas handmade ornaments. This year, we chose a wreath (Corona de Navidad) made by children and parents. They used a variety of materials and recycled objects.
The idea was to encorage parents to share time with children preparing something for the community. Each year they gave us a pleasant surprise with their creativity doing crafts.

Another Smarter Science idea

A second experiment was about surface tension. We tested how many drops of water could fit on a coin.  After this teachers wanted to try different sized coins, different shaped coins, different countries coins. Again, it's all about inquiry and students exploring.

Smarter Science

We have been learning how to get more hands on learning happening in Science a along with increasing the amount of inquiry to develop innovation and creativity. Here teachers are doing different experiments.  One was milk with four drops of food color (different colors) dropped apart near center of dish. Then a qtip dipped in dish soap was touched in the center of the plate. Students make predictions, talk about their observations and confusions then may come up with different variables to test. 

Remembrance Day

We observed Remembrance Day early as we are off now until the 13th.  We had an assembly where we read a poem, listened to the last post a and observed a minute of silence for past and present veterans. Finally, we watched a video called Highway of Heroes. Grade 5/6 made this display.

ENGLISH IMMERSION CAMP

A group of our pupils is now in Pueyo de Jaca living a great experience: We are here with a group of students from Galicia and eight native teachers, some of them are from Canada and the group that organizes the camp is called " Red Leaf". Is this familiar to you? This is an amazing place in the mountains, near France. Have a look ...

When we return to Zamora we´ll explain more things but we are enjoying this camp a lot, and learning a lot of english.

HALLOWEEN

Hi everybody. 

During this week we are celebrating  HALLOWEEN through different activities.

Here we saw an example. Our pupils drew different Halloween characters and we used them to write HALLOWEEN.
